We are a 100% volunteer fire and rescue organization, consisting of 4 stations and over 50 active members.
As the busiest at-home response fire company in Allegheny County, we answer approximately 800 fire and rescue calls a year for the Township of Moon which is home to 28,000+ residents. None of the Moon fire stations are staffed with paid firefighters, and every call is answered by our members responding from their homes or places of work.

The Moon Township VFC’s Core Values are:
The Moon Township VFC is the first and only fire company in Moon, dedicated to protecting life and property since our founding in 1934. We are and have always been comprised entirely of volunteers. We are your friends, neighbors, and local business owners, fellow citizens giving back to our community. No alarm is too big, and no call is too small. We continually acquire new apparatus and equipment to stay ahead of the technology curve and tirelessly train our members. Our members are like family, and we treat every alarm as if you were our neighbors—because you are.
We are led by a talented team of officers, guided by experienced leaders, and overseen by our Board of Directors. We come together, pooling our talents and experience in service of a common goal: our sworn commitment to protect life and property.
There’s a fire.
You call for help.
Who answers?
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as having certified firefighters at various levels in accordance with nationally recognized and sanctioned Professional Qualification standards. The purpose of this program is to recognize those organizations that support, promote, and encourage their emergency response personnel to voluntarily certify within the Commonwealth’s Certification Program administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
Since 1934, our mission has remained clear: to reduce fatalities and minimize property damage in our growing community. We have invested wisely in technology and built a dedicated team of trained volunteer firefighters. Our commitment to innovation drives us to continually improve our operations, ensuring both effectiveness and efficiency. Today, our more than 50 active members proudly wear a patch on their sleeves, symbolizing the trust and faith placed in them. This patch represents our dedication to excellence, which we honor deeply, across all of our fire stations and beyond.
