We are a 100% volunteer fire and rescue organization, consisting of 4 stations and over 50 active members.
As the busiest at-home response fire company in Allegheny County, we answer approximately 800 fire and rescue calls a year for the Township of Moon which is home to 28,000+ residents. None of the Moon fire stations are staffed with paid firefighters, and every call is answered by our members responding from their homes or places of work.

The Moon Township VFC’s Core Values are:
The Moon Township VFC is Moon's first and only fire company, protecting life and property since our inception in 1934. We are and have always been comprised 100% by volunteers. We are your friends, neighbors, and business owners. Fellow citizens giving back to our community. No alarm too big, no call too small. We continually procure new apparatus and equipment to stay ahead of the technology curve, and tirelessly train our members. Our members are a family, and we treat every alarm like it's our neighbors - because you are.
We are led by a talented team of Officers, guided by experienced leaders, and overseen by our Board of Directors. We come together, pooling our talents and experience in service of a common goal: our sworn commitment to protect life and property.
There’s a fire.
You call for help.
Who answers?
The Moon Township Volunteer Fire Company is recognized by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as having certified firefighters at various levels in accordance with nationally recognized and sanctioned Professional Qualification standards. The purpose of this program is to recognize those organizations that support, promote, and encourage their emergency response personnel to voluntarily certify within the Commonwealth’s Certification Program administered by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner.
Since 1934, we have had a singular mission: reduce the loss of life and minimize property damage for the people in our growing town. We've worked wisely to that end, investing in technology and recruiting a highly trained and dedicated force of volunteer firefighters. We have challenged ourselves to continue to innovate and evolve in order to perform our duties in the most effective and efficient ways possible. Today, our more than 50 active members wear a patch on their sleeve that reminds them of the faith and trust that has been placed in their hands. It's a symbol of our commitment to excellence and an honor we take very seriously, from our fire stations to our administrative offices and everywhere in between.
The Township of Moon is situated in Allegheny County, west of the City of Pittsburgh. Containing 24 square miles of diverse terrain, roads, highways, and bodies of water. We cover it all.
